Day 18: What does your dream sales team look like and how will you ensure they help you build your business?
Affiliate marketing is awesome. It’s getting rewarded for something you would do naturally anyway: recommending something you like to your friends.
How many times have we done this before? That miraculous cosmetic your best friend has been using, a brand of clothing, that gentle manicure lady, a cozy romantic restaurant, books, websites. We exchange recommendations all the time and the validation that comes from a friend is a strong factor influencing our choice.
At the moment I am an Affiliate for Leonie Dawson`s Amazing Biz and Life Academy. I`ve been a member for only about 3 months but what I have learned and implemented (new site, eBook, Fan Page, marketing, etc) is priceless. Beyond that, the spirit of gentleness, self-love and confidence that surrounds her courses and forums puts you in a powerful mindset.
I also recommend The Book Depository for my fellow bookworms. If you`re anything like me, you can never have enough books. Great variety, low prices and free shipping did it for me.
So! My dream team of sharers are people who love what I write and support my journey and my work. They are people who love learning new things and sharing just in case someone out there needs to know them too.
I currently use e-junkie to sell my eBook and I`ve set up my own Affiliate program in which I give 50% of sales. The eBook is about living abroad as an Au Pair and I share insights, situations and how to deal with them and how to make the best of an experience like that. (Update on 15/02/2014: the ebook is now free upon signing up.)
Day 19: Which methods do you want to use to build your platform and increase your influence?
I think the best strategy here is connecting.
By reaching out and connecting with like-minded people you start building a community that will support you, share about your work and come back to see what you`re up to. Of course that will only happen if you write interesting and useful posts and offer helpful services or products.
This is what I`ve been doing:
Hanging out on Groups and Forums - I try to answer as many questions as possible, sharing information and tools I have acquired along the way.
Reading blogs and commenting on posts – Travel, lifestyle, expat, spirituality, I love reading blogs and adding my opinion, extra information I might know or just a shout out to the blogger. I know how good it feels to get comments!
Guest posts and interviews – I have exchanged posts with bloggers from the Academy and submitted posts to expat and Au Pair websites.
Answering to all comments on my blog, Facebook comments, emails and questions in general. Showing that I`m available and reachable.
All that is helping me build a constant, positive and approachable online presence. If I can motivate someone to be more brave and live their dreams, or learn new things and not be afraid of changes, that`s enough influence to me. For the moment ;)
Day 20: State your top three tools that you will use (or already use) to save time and money and make your online world more seamless.
Weebly – I build my website for free and I am overall happy with the themes and tools but most of all by the easiness of doing it all myself. I’m still learning a lot and tweaking here and there until it feels right and “final”.
Mailchimp – It’s free when you have up to 2,000 subscribers, neat and easy to set up and use. It’s crucial to keep in touch with my friends and fans.
E-junkie – I got a week as free trial, uploaded my eBook and started selling right away! After that I started my membership for only $5 a month. It’s all automated, efficient and awesome.
These are my top tools for the moment. It feels exciting to grow and learn so many new things on the process. I will certainly try new tools as I evolve, but I’m just beginning and right now they are the best for me.
