30 Day Blog Challenge #6 and #7 - On priorities

Olá!

Today's (and yesterday's) challenge really got me thinking and it took me a while to finish this post, but here it is!

Day 6: What are my three priorities for the next 30 days that will move me closer towards living life on my own terms?

The next 30 days…

Well, maybe I should tell you about the last 8 months, shall I?

In case you don’t know, I moved back to Belgium on Christmas (in case you’ve ever wondered what kind of person does that, I’m one of them). No plan, no job, no home of my own and no certainties but one: I wanted to be with my boyfriend.

Long story short, after many visits to the town hall and the Brazilian Consulate, we signed a cohabitation contract and I sat myself very comfortably for the 6-month wait. I had a temporary ID that didn’t allow me to get a job, enroll for language classes or leave the Schengen area.

I spent this time learning Dutch and French, reading a lot of books and blogs, reflecting on what to do with my precious life and writing. No, I wasn’t bored at all.

And now August is finally here. I’m supposed to get an answer from the Immigration office and know whether or not I’m a legal alien in this country. The following steps would be 1. Finding a job as soon as possible, but we all know how difficult it is (especially for a foreigner who is not fluent in the local languages) and 2. Moving to our own place, but that depends on me making money as well. Also, I’ll have to go through Integration course.

So, my priorities for the next 30 days are bound by obligation to a certain extent and by uncertainty to another, but I’ll do them with all my heart:

1.       Keep blogging and growing connections – I only do this because I absolutely love writing, sharing what I learn and the thought of the information shared here being useful and helpful to someone keeps me going (no, it’s not for the attention or possibility of earning a few bucks).

2.       Start having a steady and supportive income – I will look for a job that can sustain me (against all hopes, an English speaking one) and I’m also looking for freelance writing jobs and I might teach English and Brazilian Portuguese via Skype. Oh, and I hope to sell a few eBooks ;)

3.       Start a Dutch course. It’s about time I get better at this.

Day 7: Which key tools will you turn to regularly to maintain your mindset and how will you use them effectively?

The key tools that have kept me sane and inspired these past few months are the ones that I will most certainly keep turning to.

Some kind of exercise + regular walks in nature – I feel good, alive, healthy and strong.

Affirmations and gratitude – While I walk, meditate or go to sleep, I list everything I am grateful for in my life or in that particular moment and tell myself positive and true affirmations like “I am brave and strong”, “There is no use in worrying about this now”, “I am learning what I need and I don’t need to know everything”, etc.

Write down my plans, ideas, dreams in a to do list, vision board, notebook – It helps me to keep organized and clear minded in order to focus and make things happen.

Read inspiring blogs and books – It is essential that I fill up my well of creativity, inspiration, belief and a bit of magic as well.

Amazing Biz and Life Academy - the e-courses, e-books, forums, blogs and community have helped me like nothing else. It was all I needed in order to change my mindset and believe I can indeed create my own awesome life and business + take concrete action (this new website and eBook).

Spend quality lazy time – We all need relaxing and our brain needs a holiday from time to time. The love and joy of spending a lazy or fun family weekend definitely contributes to the mindset I want to maintain.

I'd love to hear from you! What are your priorities and tools? Pop a comment below!
