Soundtrack for this post. Hit play! :)
Write down your perfect day in the present tense.

It’s a nice summer day and I wake up next to my love. We get up early, have a nice light breakfast of fresh fruit and yoghurt and go for a run in the park. The sky is clear but for a few white fluffy clouds, the trees are gorgeous and the bunny rabbits are hopping around.

After running we walk leisurely on the paths in the woods, feeling alive and energized. We hear the wind playing with the leaves and the birds singing above us. I feel grateful and in peace.

We return to our home. I take a nice shower and work for a couple of hours – I write a new blog post and connect with my tribe. I am also working on a new book and feel really excited about it.

We have simple sandwiches for lunch and head out to pick up my parents and siblings from Brussels airport. It’s the first time they visit me and it’s unbelievable. I have always dreamed of sharing a little bit of my life here with them. I’m nervous, excited and absolutely happy. I can’t wait to hug them all very tight. I hope I don’t cry!

We wait at the gate and I see my brother and sister first. My brother is pushing the luggage cart and looks very relaxed. My sister is looking around and she looks beautiful as always. I wave and call their names and they come to me. I hug them tight and my brother says “Let go of me” (ha ha!). My parents are there – my dad smiles and my mom cries a little bit. I hold tears back and hug them. I have missed her perfume so much I could hug and cuddle her all day!

We drive back home and they tell me about the flight. They look out the window and say how beautiful Flanders is. I help them get settled. It’s amazing to have them here with me! I show them my house and tell them about the neighborhood. We talk about what we will do, see and eat – we’ll visit Brugge, Gent, Brussels, the seaside, Paris and Porto. My dad will love Porto! I’ll take them to restaurants and eat mussels, fries and drink awesome Belgian beers.

Tonight we are having a barbecue with our friends. I really want to introduce them. We have lots of food and drink. I make chicken hearts and farofa, but they are surprised about how different a Belgian bbq is from ours – we have marinated ribs, chicken, spicy sausages. Afterwards we have pineapple with rum and cinnamon, bread with honey and camembert and green grapes. I have to play the interpreter because my parents don’t speak English.

My dad and brother enjoy some beers and my mom and sister love the flavours.

We make a fire and our friends start leaving. It gets chilly and we cozy up by the fire telling stories and jokes. After some time, the fire dies out and we are exhausted. We all go to bed to get a good rest for more excitement tomorrow!
